Lewis Woods debuts with Work 2 The Beat: «I feel like the time is right to show the world my sound»

Lewis Woods is an emerging DJ and producer from Belfast who is beginning to make his mark on the electronic music scene. With a sound rooted in deeper, groove-driven club music, he draws inspiration from artists such as Chris Stussy, L.P. Rhythm, and Scott Steer.

His debut release, Work 2 The Beat, introduces listeners to his musical identity and marks the start of what promises to be an exciting journey. In this interview, Lewis talks about the creative process behind his first release, the challenges he faced in the studio, and what listeners can expect from him in the future.

What does it mean to you to officially release your first track, and why did you choose this one to introduce you to the public?

It means a lot to be bringing out my first song. I’ve been learning for a while now, and I feel like the time is right to show the world my sound. I think this track is the perfect example of the genre I’m trying to make.

How long have you been working on your sound leading up to this release?

I’ve been producing for about a year now, but I’ve really locked in over the last six months, trying to find my own sound. I’m starting to see real progress.

What was the biggest challenge during the production of this track, and what did you learn from the process?

The biggest challenge was definitely trying to make the vocal stand out without overpowering everything else. I think I improved a lot when it comes to mixing my tracks during this process.

If someone hears your music for the first time thanks to this release, what would you like them to remember about you as an artist?

I’d like them to remember my name more than anything because I’ve got a lot more in store, and I hope to be releasing plenty more music in the future.

Was there a specific moment that made you think, «I’m ready to release my music»?

The first time I thought I should start releasing music was when I posted one of my unreleased tracks on Instagram and it got support from artists like Baggi, Locky, and others. That gave me the confidence to put my music out.

Which artists have influenced this track the most, directly or indirectly?

I think the artist who’s influenced this track the most is definitely L.P. Rhythm. I feel like he’d play this tune. Tyge also had an influence because his track was the first place I heard the vocal.

How do you imagine the crowd will react when this track is played for the first time in a club?

I think this tune has big potential in clubs. It’s got a thick bassline and a vocal that people already know—what else would you need?
